On the west bank of the Hudson River, you’ll find the small borough of Edgewater, barely covering one square mile of land. The population of about 10,000 represents an intimate community that is tucked within the dynamic Gold Coast. With a spectacular view of Manhattan and access to all of the best shopping along the waterfront, Edgewater property is some of the best real estate New Jersey has to offer.
Edgewater is located in Bergen County and is the first of the Gold Coast towns just north of the Hudson County Gold Coast. Its proximity to George Washington Bridge makes it a car friendly town; indeed it’s easiest to drive along the riverfront to and from anywhere. Within reach are the great parks in Fort Lee, the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway, and access to the other waterfront towns that offer a variety of recreational activities.
Expect Edgewater real estate to continue to grow and appreciate as more new construction pops up in the area – remember, the majority is Edgewater is all riverfront. It’s a great place for both buyers and renters who are looking for homes - Edgewater offers a wide variety of real estate, from high-rise condos to single and multi-family homes, luxury homes, condos and commercial properties. Look across the river, and you might spy people on the other side looking back, wondering if they could be as lucky as you.
Edgewater Recreation
Edgewater offers some of the best shopping in New Jersey, period. With all the shopping complexes along the Hudson River, many of them fall within the borough of Edgewater. You can find all of the top stores from Target, TJ Maxx, Barnes and Noble, Banana Republic, and Ann Taylor Loft. With great shopping comes great restaurants, and there’s no shortage of these either, from the big chains to mom and pop establishments.
Also in Edgewater is the Mitsuwa Marketplace, a Japanese supermarket and shopping complex that offers a taste of life in Japan. From books to magazines to toys to even soft serve ice cream, everything looks and tastes authentically Japanese. Shuttle buses run from Manhattan to Mitsuwa – the savvy resident can use the shuttle to get them to Manhattan and back home again.
Speaking of Manhattan, getting there could not be any faster. Whether via the George Washington Bridge, the Lincoln Tunnel, or the New York Waterway, commuting from Edgewater is a cinch.
